The Solar Living Institute is located in beautiful Hopland, CA where redwoods start growing in Mendocino County.
This non-profit group is sponsored in part by companies like Gaiam Green Living and Real Goods Solar, as well as revenue generated from the SLI store, donations and classes that teach sustainable living skills.
Solar Living Institute’s goal is to promote sustainable living through inspirational environmental education. Classes include, but are not limited to:

Natural Living Skills

SLI also offers internships to potential interns from around the world. Interns take part in the day-to-day operations of the institute and are able to attend classes free of charge. There is basic accommodation on the site. No cash payments are given to interns, although they can largely offset their food costs by harvesting SLI’s organic garden. Internships usually last for one season of 3-6 months.
